Default valve covers

I am about to do a rocker and cam swap and I was thinking while I'm in there I would clean up and paint the valve covers red to match the hotchkis strut tower brace. What do you guys think??

i think it would look badass... you should also do something with the coil brackets... or relocate the coils

Yeah I thought about doing something with the coils but wanted to start with the valve cover first

also check out his polished valve covers. another option, is if you relocate the coils, you can grind down the mounting boss's so its all flat, fill in the holes left behind on the covers tops so its all smooth/flat, then powdercoat them. it'll look badass. guess you could primer/paint the valve covers this way too to try and match the STB's paint.

would it be better to have them powder coated or painted? I know that powder coating is tougher but is it possible to get away with just painting them, my friend is a painter and works at a local shop and said that he would paint them for free. Hard to beat that!!!

powder coating would be more durable and last longer, but you shoud have no problem painting them... i would use some high temp paint just to be safe..

I think that I will go with paint due to the fact that the local powdercoater is a dick! I hate giving him my money.

yeah I went with powder coating so that it would hold up. and any oils/cleaners I get on them wont ruin the finish. paint will be fine though. oh, and you will want to sand them down cause the finish is HORRIBLE.
