Default BUFFING QUESTION (tiny scratches)

I am in the process of buffing my red Z28 using a Porter Cable and Manzerna products. I am doing the work under a 500 watt Halagon work light. I can't believe the amount of fine scratches that this light shows. I am using an orange pad with the Intensive Polish which is removing 90% of the scratches after ALOT of work. I then used a white and blue pad with Final Polish II. After moving the car into direct sunlight I noticed very, very fine scratches on the surface. You have to be at a certain angle to see them but they are there. What am I doing wrong? Should I try the white/blue pad with the Intensive Polish? Or do I need to spend more time with the white or blue pad with the Final Polish II? Anyone with any suggestions? Thanks

Sounds like you may be seeing micro-marring, but it's difficult to know for sure without seeing it.

Make sure you're working the polish fully to avoid that from happening.

What I do is work the polish until it looks like it is dry. Then I'll spray a mist of distilled water on the pad and work that until it looks dry and then wipe off to see progress. Repeat until scratches are gone in that area. Would the water being sprayed on the pad cause that? I use the water because it extends the use of the polish thats on the pad. I only see these fine scratches under direct sunlight not the halogen light.

I wouldn't spray the water after the polish is dry, just add a little more polish.

I'd try FPII again.

I'll give it a try. Any other opinions on this situation?
