I put covers on my Z. Looked good, but always started to go crooked. Double sided tape later... PERFECT!

I absolutely hated my AVS covers. Not only did I become afraid of the taillight housing melting, I also hated that it was another reason to get pulled over and god knows i dont need help with that. Other cars cant really see your lights all that well, especially blinkers. I also felt their fitment and finish made the cars *** look tacky. I still have em. You want em you got em.

I might have tried niteshades if it weren't permanent.

Here is a good rear shot of my niteshades & a side shot of the side markers. I would never run covers. they are cheap & can be stolen.

VHT Nightshades FTW. Easy to do, cheap, can't be stolen, and you can pick how dark you want to go. It's not messy at all if done right.

I like the VHT but I like the reverse light being covered up....like the old LT1 Trans Ams....where it had a solid light and no little circle....

All you gotta do if paint over them too. I masked mine off the way I wanted it to look. I personally like being able to see while backin up without hangin my head out the window.

What Do We Use To Smooth Out The Nightshade, I Take It They Have To Be Wet Sanded, But What Grit?

Just fine. I got pulled over for running my fog lights & also had on my parkin lights/tails. The cop walked around to the back & ran my info. He never once mentioned they looked dark. Niteshades if applied correctly will not be too dark. Especially since it is made specifically for this.

Do my tails not look black to you?? You go too black its gonna make your lights dim no matter what. VHT is specially designed to look black, but let light thru. If you don't want covers then VHT is the only way I would suggest goin.
