anybody made an external shifter gate like the british cars have like

I tried on my firebird, but found that there is an overlap in shifter positions so you couldn't shift with something like that on there.

I eventually just made a surrounding shift plate.

i know some people who tried in an intregra i used ti own one so was interested in this as well but they also found out that it would not work i wonder how the italians do it???

i know a guy who has the stock shifter schematics, as well as the console schematics and until he got busy with other stuff in the shop was working on a prototype

ive also wondered about trying this...

maybe if we got a thinner shift stick it would work?

I always thought this would make shifting harder when you're racing. It looks cool and all but I don't need something else that might make me miss a shift...especially the ol' 2-3!

I wanted to do the same thing, but I don't think the T-56's design lends itself to a shift gate. I was going to design a template with Plexiglass, and when tested, have a machine shop cut in stainless. It would look sick though, please post if you figure it out, and I'll buy one if you make 2. PM me if it works out!

whenever i drive my step dads ferrari it always makes shifting alot easier

The Italians do it by using narrow shift rods....limp like linguini (or linguine for those of you who care about the spelling) not like our stout American shift rods....

it can still be done tasteful...especially if it's a shorter stick so you barely see it
