Poll: hardtop, t-tops, or convertable
my old hardtop RS: all my friends had t-tops and i really wanted em, but i gotta say hardtops look sleek as hell.
my Z28- even on a car w/ 29k miles in flawless conditions, the tops still leak alittle in heavy rain. Absolutely amazing driving around w/ the tops out...so much more fun than a hardtop, but it becomes a PITA to take them off and put them back on. Because of this i always had the t-tops off and in the bags in the back, kept the car in the garage 24/7 unless i was driving it somewhere (only in perfect weather w/ no chance of rain). I guess it wasn't such a bad deal.
In short, 4th gen t-tops>3rd gen t-tops but they're still awesome. Just not as well refined.
We're talking about t-tops flying off, when the only way that it can reasonably happen is when it's not latched properly. I'm not going to have a civil conversation with anyone who uses conjecture to support this BS. This is like saying "anything can happen on the street", which while true, is worthless in this conversation when judging whether or not t-tops do fly off when latched.
A latched t-top flying off would be a serious safety issue which wouldn't go undetected by GM, or they'd be harassed to death. I don't buy it. It's reasonable doubt, and if SOMEONE cares to give me a first-hand account, I'll rethink it through.
And don't tell me to have a "civil conversation" when you have half the posts that I do. 99% of my conversations are relatively civil. Grow up? STFU.

functionality? how so? haha you don't get half of the experience of a vert and it takes much longer to get the tops out and stored in the trunk. I'll have the top down in 20 seconds and be long gone by the time your done. And I haven't heard of the tops breaking down and I've owned two. Now weight, got me there... but oh well.
