If I could get some fake rims so that they stayed clean, I'd get them. Brake dust is a b!tch.

Here are my new rims, BTW.

I think you can get those backing plates that keep the dust from coming onto your rims. I believe they have them with fake cross-drilled rotors attached too ha ha ha JK

I doubt they make them in 19". Anyway, I think the ones that are best would be the solid polished discs that are like a mirror. Those actually look nice, but they really hurt the cooling. Ahhh, I'll just stick to cleaning the rims all the time. This time around I got chromed ones so it should be easier to clean than the polished rims.

You guys are forgetting what looks dumber here. Non-functional exhaust tips that no one would know about unless they looked under the car, or a Trans Am without exhaust tips at all. Fake, non-functional, whatever you wanna call 'em, they look better than two empty spaces in a rear bumper molded to form around exhaust tips.

Dude, I'm not making a negative comment, I said you can clean your tips pretty easily with SOS pads. They cost about $3 for a box of 15 or something like that. Don't get all worked up, I was just telling you what you could have done that would have been a lot easier.

That's not really easier. My tips never get black so they always look good and not just after cleaning them. I forgot to mention, some other benefits is that I was able to adjust them so they look perfect without having to do any welding or bending and I was also able to tuck them up higher without having to worry about the heat effecting the body panel.

I can't believe you guys are getting all in an uproar over the fact that the exhaust actually comes out 12" sooner..

I think it's a sweet idea..

I wonder if the stockers could be chromed?

Yeah, you can chrome them. I might in the future. I coated them with a clearcoat to keep them from dulling, but the rocks thrown up hits the clear and makes it look like crap, so I'll either replace them with the Corsa clones or else have these chrome plated. I'm going to rig some rock shields first, though.

I wonder how they'd look chrome..

Would chrome make them easier to clean?

Chromed would look awesome. You just don't see the factory tips polished or chromed and they're a really nice shape as well. I guess it's cheaper or easier to just buy new ones.

I just chromed my custom shifter handle while my car is at the shop. I'll post a before and after pic in just a minute.

Before - black paint.

After - chromed

What did it cost to get it chromed? I may look around to see how much it'd cost me to get my stockers chromed..

Prices vary quite a bit. My shifter handle was 50 bucks. I think I paid about $60 each to have my tips fully polished. Chrome work is mostly polishing and then the chemical dips which only costs a bit more.

Chrome is not going to dull on you like a polished part will and the dirt will just wipe off.

Yeah, some shops will need to see them to give a accurate price. You can tell them they are cast aluminum exhaust tips.
