Yeah, you gotta drill 3 holes in the bottom of your bumper. I actually inserted a plate with 3 studs that protrude down through the 3 holes. I use wingnuts to attach the bracket. It's very easy to remove the entire bracket that way. Actually, I don't use it any more because it's too ugly (I keep it in the back seat). I'd rather pay the fine (none so far):

Bend up your front plate and chuck it in the back seat. When you get pulled over, tell the copy that your garage door tore the plate off your grill and you haven't figure out how to put it back on yet. I actually did that with my garage door. It didn't tear it off but it did get mangled.

Cops around me don't go for having the plate in the window either. They'll tear you a new one if you cover any part of the state letters on the top part of the plate w/ a frame also.

now that is the front grill that i want. i think i may just zip tie the plate to that grill. unless you think that slp plate holder would be better. i know it looks better with no plate but i rather have it on than deal with the cops.

I've posted this in the TX SECTION some time ago.

I used these small plastic squares off of the stock license plate bracket...

...and JB WELD'd them on my billet grille. After the JB dried, I painted them with black touch-up paint to match the rest of the grille.

Then I just bent the LP down the middle to the correct angle and installed it.

Now I can take my LP off whenever I want to and I don't have to worry about an additional bracket, and you don't even notice those plastic squares.

Tip: place a a soft water resistant material behind the license plate before you mount it so that the lp doesn't scracth your grille.

INSTALL PICs

that is a good idea too. i was going to try to find something to stick to the back of my plate so my grill would not be scratched.

I don't know about where you guys who say you would rather take a "small" fine live but here in NY i have gotten pulled over 3 times for no front plate in the course of one year and have gotten out of two of them but the one I didn't was $105 fine. I got pulled over again last night and now I think its time to put the plate back on, at least it's a custom plate so it won't look too horrible. I would really like to see some pics of people with the SLP bracket, I can't decide if I like it. For now I guess I will just find a way to stick it to the stock one.....

Buddy of mine did that and cops wrote him a ticket for it, something about it needs to be a certain height off the ground I believe. I would have done the same thing if not for that....I guess I will be buying some double sided 3M tape and sticking the thing on there, oh well, oh and thanks for the picture of the SLP bracket, if there are any more out there post em up.

plate isn't that low i don't think. I haven't hit it on anything yet, but i did curve it back to make it look smoother at the bottom. car is slightly lowered due to the different profile tires.

Has anyone considered the option of licensing your car in another state that doesn't require front plates? I haven't researched it as much as I'd like but I do know this...

Some loophole in Nebraska law allows you to license a vehicle there without an address there. Rental car companies often use this to license their vehicles because it's cheaper. Unfortunately, Nebraska requires front plates. But I'm curious if there's another state out there with this loophole that doesn't require front plates. Does anyone know anything about that?

i think you have to llive in the state that you register the car in.

plus you would have to go renew your plates once a year?
