1998 3000GT Detail
Here's the lowdown... Neglected paint (the hood was stained BAD!!!), BUT very little fade/oxidation, so I had something to work with... The front bumper DID need alot of work. That was probably what was most faded. This Mitsubishi paint gave me room with which to work unlike my wife's BMW.
Anway, on to the strategy followed by the results:
1. Dawn wash
2. Clay bar
3. Wash
4. Dry and prep body panels
5. Spot test: Porter Cable & orange/light cutting pad - Menzerna Intensive Polish... Didn't work to get many swirls
6. Spot test: Porter Cable & orange/light cutting pad - Meguiars no. 80... Still not good enough
7. Porter Cable & orange/light cutting pad - Meguairs no. 83: Better than the rest. Some swirls still put up a fight, but it made enough of a difference to continue on with the rest of the car... Some nasty scratches will eventually need a rotary buffer or wet-sanding, but not this weekend... Maybe never... Just a repaint one day... This made it look good enough... Applied to the whole car
8. Porter Cable & white/polishing pad - Menzerna Final Polish II: Whole car... Smoothed everything out nice
9. Porter Cable & grey/finishing pad - Meguiars no. 7 Show Car Glaze: REALLY brought out the green!
10. Hand Wax - Meguiars NXT synth. wax: Looks thick on the car, but it could be shinier... Yet I like how long it lasts for the price... Application and removal of residue is very easy, too
11. Interior: Needed all kinds of ****!!! Went through like 6/7 rags and they're all black!
Total time: est. 30 hours
Okay,

Thanks for the compliments guys!
Not that it would work exactly the same for F-body's (My TA would NOT go through that exact same routine), but I listed everything I used that worked in case someone has a similar car under similar conditions... Alot of it is trial and error, at least for me.
