Default Hood Prop Rod?

I have an SLP Ultra Z hood that needs a prop rod. Does anyone have a suggestion where I can find one? Thanks

Why would it need a prop rod when the factory setup uses gas shocks to hold the hood up? Maybe you just need new or stronger shocks to hold it up.

The original lift supports work fine but the driver side support, is causing the hood to get a "wave" in it, if I leave it attached. To much pressure I guess.

I used a piece of conduit for a prop rod for a while. It was 1 1/2" round and I set it in the tallest part of the latch on the bottom and the corner of the hood side latch rested in the other end perfectly.

Then you need less pressure like the shocks used on the SS hoods. SLP should still sell them.

Didn't know there was such a thing. Wish I had known that a long time ago! Might have saved me from the ghetto prop rod I just described!

I talked to someone at SLP and he said that he never heard of the problem that I am having. I also asked about different lift supports and he said that he did not know of any that will work that have less pressure.

Well I don't know who you talked to but I know on all the Firehawk and SS hoods they went with lighter pressure shocks since they had a ton of take off hood shocks from the heavy steel Z and base Trans Am/Formula hoods that were replaced with the light weight fiberglass/composite hoods.
