You don't have to use VHT. I went to a local hobby shop and got the "smoke" paint they use on R/C car bodies. Works just as well and was like $4 for a can.

I did mine years ago and when I got the flame job the blacked out front turn signals didnt look right so I just wet sanded them to get the VHT off. BTW since I've been packing up stuff to move I found a can of this stuff that I wont use. Anyone want it? It's almost a whole can

I would say u can start with the 800 to initially get the letters off then as you get lower on the letters switch to 1500. Just watch to make sure you are not putting any really deep scratches in the areas around the letters. Either way you can make mistakes just make sure u sand it flat before application. Then just use the 2000 once u want to wet sand Really its personal preference. I got impatient using the fine paper and switched to the heavy and it still took me awhile to get them off. 2000 is what i used for wet sanding so its way to fine to get the letters off. Just watch as u go basically and u will see what I am talking about. Sorry if thats long but Im pretty tired and may have been rambling haha. Any more questions let me know!
