Since we'll have nothing but rain this weekend, I guess I'll have some time to work with it some more...."work" being the key word here

Scratch X works well on CDs too haha. I've brought a couple of my 360 games back from the dead with it.

The ScratchX by hand will work, as long as you can't feel the scratch with your fingernail.

Try using a terry cloth applicator, instead of a foam one .. it will give you a little more cutting power.

when you are done, you will need to reprotect all the areas you have done. as it will remove any sealant/wax in those spots.

Definetly. My 360 tipped over when I was playing gears of war and left a nice deep ring around the outside edge of the disk. After that it would just lock up once you started playing. I just used a microfiber towel and the scratch x and rubbed the cd for about 15 min and it removed most of the scratch, enough for it to be playable again. I then tried it on an old Need for Speed game that had been left out of a case for a long time and got it playing again. It just takes a little bit a time but it does work. I dont know how chemically safe it is for the surface of the disk, but it hasnt had any side effects on mine yet.

make sure when applying it you stay focused on a small area. you must spread the scratch-x 1st to your working area, then thorougly apply it with about 15lbs of pressure...ya, that much. when you're applying it DO NOT do circular motions, just back and forth. you'll be soar by the time you finish.

and if you want it to look real good when you're done, put on a polisher like #26 over the car, then some NXT wax and you're golden

just make sure you're using a good soap to wash with that'll take your old stuff off (like Megs gold class wash)
