yes, specific to the HID mod. So are these bulbs that are for sale rebased HID's?

Basically thinkng about doing the full HID mod including projector, and just wondering if this kit will work well with either the HELLA projector or one of the other ones. And also include what I need for the HID part.

You would have to get the HID kit that fit the application projector you would be using. So you would be better off to get the projectors and figure out what kit you need before you buy anything else.

True, very true. Are the H7 lights you sell though rebased HID's? The Hella Projector which seems a lot of people are using for the custom mod is H7 plug-in. I think it is just a regular halogen projector, but has worked very well for HID with no glare.

Rebased? No. The only reason any bulb would be rebased is if you are wanting it to fit an application other than what it is supposed to. ie D2S/D2R 9006.

And if you are talking about the same Hella's that most people on here are using they take the H9 bulbs.

According to www.LEDGauges.com, they carry:
D1R
D1S
D1C
D2R
D2S
D2C
H1
H3
H4-1
H4-2
H4-4
H7
H8
H9
H10
H11
H13
H13-4
9003-4
9004
9004-4
9005
9006
9007
9007-4
880
894
Other - Please specify

D1R, D1S, D1C, D2R, D2S, D2R are normal HID capsules, the rest are re-based to fit in place of a Halogen bulb. The 3rd letter in the HID capsule designation denotes the type of housing for which it is intended.
S = HID Capsule for a Projector housing
R = HID capsule for a Reflector housing
c = ?.
Example: D2S capsule is for a projector housing, D2R is for a reflector housing.

Hella makes H7 projectors, H9 projectors, D2S projectors, etc. I have the Hella 90mm H9 projector which is technically a halogen projector. People have had success retrofitting HID into it though by modifying the base to properly fit and aim a D2S capsule. The D2S capsule had to be positioned slightly further in and lower than the H9 bulb. That setup was before H9 HID conversion kits, which may have that compensation built in. I don't know. LS1_SS, can you compare a standard H9 bulb to the H9 HID conversion capsule to check?

Here is a thread on the subject:

Here is a sticky on projectors and head light upgrades in general:

The D2S and D2R are normal HID capsules. The 9006 kit is a rebased HID capsule to fit in place of a Halogen 9006 bulb. 9006 is a halogen part number.

You want to see the HID's? Or you want to see where the ballast is mounted?

Which temperature would you recommend for best visibility? I'm not interested in the color of the light, more in the brightness. Would 4000k-6000k be good?

If you want the most usable light 4300K would be best.

If we want the D2S bulbs, just put that in the special request area?

I am going to do a TSX Projector retrofit on the TA. No need for sealed beam.

And will the wiring be set up for the TA fi I order the non sealed kit? I heard there is some issues with start up flare (or large load on the electrical system at first which requires some sort of control box or something to control the power spike)

Yes. I will have to send you a revised invoice with the 10% off so you can let me know what you want before I send it.
