1967 427 4-speed. Light metallic blue with white racing stripes. It's pretty sweet. Someday they'll get it running right and back on the road.

Duff, you a current chief or retired? SK2 USNR here.

Current/active. . .for the next 18 months then retired. . .not that I'm counting. I actually had to think for a few seconds on it.

I used the pull method as well...but instead of potentially hurting my hands, I just used to strong ropes and a golf cart. Came of with one pull at full speed...meaning, I made sure the ropes were strong and long enough

I got my SLP grille a loooooooooong time ago. Mine looks just like that one, but instead of screws and instructions for drilling, mine came with 3M double sided tape. It's still on there!

Yeah I was hoping I could have 3M'd it but with all the holes in the grill for the fasteners it would have looked less than professional IMHO.

For all of the others that are going to try this....I have the SLP SS grill on my car and used the "slow and controlled yank" method. I used a flat head screwdriver and pliers to pull the two pins on the side and the two pins on the bottom. Then I grabbed the grill and pulled down and the four pins up top pulled out smoothly. I'm glad I took my time, because if I ever want to put the SS grill back on, it still looks good as new!

Looks too me like you went around the world to scratch your ***. I just yanked my stock grill off and it has two tabs on either end that hold it in.

I pull it off for pics and put it on so the cops leave me alone. I will modify the SLP SS grill the same way when I get one.

The reason I did the 'bumper off' method is that I wanted to reuse the stock grill and if you just pull it off it ruins the studs holding it in the fascia. I was also going for as professional installed look as possible. I'm a 'by the book' guy so I just followed what SLP recommended.
Yeah it ruins them but the grille will stay in there just find. I need to get a video to show you how I did mine.

Great write up! Care looks bad ***. Love the grille, love the color, love the ground effects!

Now, get you some chrome Zr1's and you'll be set!

I don't know why SLP instructions say to drill 1/4 inch holes. The fasteners WILL NOT push into a hole that small. Drill them 19/64 and you won't have a problem. I did mine yesterday.

Yeah the SLP grill has holes in it. You have to drill holes into the factory bumper and use the push fastners to mount the grill. I am sure its hardly noticeable if you decide to use 3M tape.

the SLP grille has holes in it and comes with the push pins. they are almost invisible when the grille is installed. there is no reason not to use them. they are much more secure then the tape method.

Ya I was thinking I was gonna see a bumper support being removed.

Going by the book works aswell, just takes a bit longer. Looks good!
