I have the Auto Zone ones & the Meguiars. there is no comparisson. The Meguiars are 100X's softer & more durable.

DF Concours towels are the best I have found , but also the most expensive.

I have had good results with the Pak Shak towels, and I also have a ton of the Meguiar's Supreme Shine.

ExcelDetail's towels are good, as well as PakShak's. Meguiar's MFs are surprisingly high quality as well, especially for them being OTC. I own two and use them as "daily drivers".

unless your paint is perfect, with zero swirls, just get regular micro fibers.

I have to disagree with this ..

you don't have to use top shelf towels for everything .. but if you use the bottom shelf stuff exclusively, they will end up causing damage .. there is a difference in MF towel quality ..

don't believe me? take a new, cheap MF towel, take the back of a blank CD, place the disc down on the table, label side down .. then rub ont he disc with the cheap towel .. you can cause a ton of marring with only a moderate amount of pressure ..

good quality MF towels are an essential detailing tool .. Tropi-care carries some nice towels ..

I hand-wash mine in a bucket with liquid soap and water. This is not the preferred method, but is better than throwing it in the machine and it's what I recommend if you don't have any of the "good stuff" (IE: MF-specific detergent, or high-quality detergents like Charlie's Soap).

wash them with some soap and put some vinegar in as you would with fabric softner (but NO fabric sofner). dry them on low heat with NO dryer sheets.

what he said.

Wash them in cold, rinse them in cold. Use a liquid detergent, preferably one that is free from dyes, etc .. I use All free, and it works very well.

Add 1 teaspoon of white vinegar for every towel, which will help breakdown the chemicals in the water and the towels..

use a double rinse.

dry them on low heat, with no softner ..

I use some shout on the really dirty spots and very little woollite and run a 2nd rise. Let air dry and test on a old unwanted CD.
