Default Anyone ever wrap their gauge cluster?

So I had a bunch of stuff in my interior wrapped last year, and planned on having the guy wrap my gauge cluster, but he became a flake, and disappeared before doing it. I was able to match up the carbon fiber wrap, and wanted to hear any advice from people who've done it. I've wrapped stuff before, but being concave, it's going to be tricky and I'm trying to figure the best way to do it.

Thoughts?

Here's my interior.

Seems there really isnt much that goes on in the way of custom stuff anymore.

I remember a thread from forever ago where a guy wrapped the gauge bezel, but it was with leather and to get it to lay right he had to stitch the lip around the open area where the gauge glass was.

I think it would kind of bother me though cause I usually have this tic about balanced aesthetic. If you did the whole gauge bezel you would have vent rings that are kinda of standing out and the one attached to the cluster bezel would just kind of disappear. I painted my vent rings and becasue of that tic I actually taped off the bezel and just painted the ring and left the rest alone.

I like the look though
You could always get it hyrdodipped but it probably wont match your other stuff if you have a textured wrap already.

Redline makes them. You can even send in your material and they can do it for you. They call it a gauge hood cover. Some of those pics are mine, but I ended up not liking it and selling it.

In the early days of this site, there were plenty of carbon fiber wrapping threads. Some even were about the gauge bezel. If you search, you'll probably find them.

I still have some work to do, but this is where it's at now.

I did a quick install in the car to see if it matched what I had previously had done, and it's close.

Turned out really good Alchemist!

Looks like the material is a little thinner than I thought it would be. From the pics I cant tell much of a difference between the other parts. Seems that materials is very flexible as well

There were a couple threads a while back where people wrapped their gauge bezel with vinyl. They used a few pieces of vinyl stitched together instead of cutting the bezel.

I'm going to have to use a second piece to do the inside of the bezel. I wasn't able to get the material to lay flat. If I had to do it again, I'd probably start on the inside and work my way out, rather than outside in.

The material was cheap and I got it off that "E" site. So if it looks like crap, I'll use a hairdryer and remove it, and start over. I'm into it for literally $10.

Wow it looks great! - I actually just had my center console, hvac/stereo bezel, & door controls/handle done as well just like yours.

How hard was it to remove the vents? I've been wanting to do the same parts but I'm afraid of breaking them...

They can be tough to remove, especially if they are dried up from heat/sun.

I finished working on it last night, and it's ok, just ok. I think if I were to do it again, it would come out better.

That car is PLEADING for a nice aftermarket racing style steering wheel!!

Sparco makes a Monte Carlo (Momo) style, three spoke wheel with REAL carbon fiber spokes, and internal rim, with suede cover, but it is $750.00!!!!

I feel the same, but I have 2 requirements, it needs to retain the stereo controls, and it needs to keep a functional airbag. I may send the wheel out and have it rewrapped and modified one of these days.... it's on the list.

I agree, a steering wheel would complete the look. Ya dont need no stinkin airbags.

I don't need a/c, power steering, sway bars, power windows/locks, passenger seat etc etc.... but I still have them and use them. It's nice knowing I still have an airbag.

^ i had the same debate

I was looking into steering wheels last night and found some I liked but didnt realize it was so expensive of a mod. hell the adapter is $100 on its own. Id have more in a steering wheel than I have in my entire interior.
