On the throttle body, I personally used brake cleaner. It cleans the **** out of it and then you can scrub the remaining gunk off with some steel wool. I use shop solv on the intake manifold. Before I found that stuff, I sprayed it down with simple green, let it sit for a bit, washed it out and let it dry really well.

I used a wire brush to clean all the build up off the outside of my throttle body. Of course you take it off the car first. Then you can take some super fine sand paper to it and polish it. Finish with some mothers polish that stuff cleans everything. I know they sell throttle body cleaner you can spray into your intake to get rid off some of the build up.

Yeah, take the throttle body off of the car and spray it down with brake cleaner. You can scrub it with a cloth and mothers, some scotch brite, or steel wool. make sure to spray it down again or wash it off with simple green and dry. After that, you can put it right back on the car. Brake cleaner evaporates QUICKLY so you shouldn't have a problem with that. It literally takes 60 seconds TOPS if you soke the throttle body to become fully dry.

I cleaned mine on the car very carefully with carb and choke cleaner, got 4 shop rags full of black nastiness outta there, and holy shiznit it made a difference, my throttle response is twice as good as it was before. And yea I regained some lost power and my idler bypass was nearly completely clogged up, my idle is sooo much better.

Don't clean a throttle body with brake clean. EVER. Always use carb cleaner.

Its best just to take off the throttle body and intake manifold if you're really wanting to get it super clean, it's not that hard of a job.
