Tinting T-top glass?
Tinting T-top glass? I am in so. florida and I've heard that putting window tint on the t tops can cause them to crack because of the heat, so I wanna stay away from the actual window ting
but I'd like to be able to drive around without the shades in there all the time.
any suggestions to accomplish this?

I've got my t-tops tinted down to 5% and I haven't had a problem yet...I would think that there wouldn't be any difference in having the t-top shades in with the sun beating down on them than to have the t-tops tinted and the sun bearing down on them...I'll keep a check on this post cause now you've got my curiousity up...
I remember reading about this and it was the combination of heat on the t top that made it crack, I don't know why it's different than any of the other windows that are tinted.

When I got mine done, the guy at the shop said not to tint the tops as well. Apparently there is the possibility they could crack. Maybe you can find a tint or window covering that is mesh? That would help dissipate the heat better. Just a thought.

I was not actually saying it won't..I am not a glass expert.. 
BUT..I would bet 500 bucks, it would not hurt...maybe if you live near the SUN... ..Although many believe FLORIDA is Heavenly...

My main concern is how hot they get when it's sunny out there,
I made the mistake of taking them off on a sunny day and they were extremely hot to the touch.

I don't understand how it would hurt but like someone else said...I'm not a glass expert...but if windows could crack due to dark tint...couldn't side windows and back windows crack???

ME----EXACTLY... 
im stationed here in LR....and i have a buddy w/ 2000 white T/A and he has had his T-tops tinted for over 6months now and hasnt had any issues...and just so u know it reaches 95deg here.....
mind u its smart to leave a windows cracked in the middle of the day....but that applys to ANY vehicle

Just like everything else, every situation is going to be different. I remember a guy who had his tops tinted and he had no problems. Try tinting one top for a while to see what happens, at least there's a 50/50 chance on that bet

do it. I've been working for 5 years as a profesional window tinter here in florida. I tinted my hole car and put 5% on t-tops.I had the same issued as you, it is hot as hell down here.well about cracking the only way that could happen is if the windows get extremely hot and then cold. You now just like regular glass. now if the window itself has a scratch I would recommend you to live it alone.
