Center Console removal

Hi! I'm trying to remove the carpet from my 99 LS1 camaro for cleaning and am having difficulty removing the center console. Specifically removal of the shift ****. I have an automatic. Anyone know how to do this?

There is a staple in the front of the auto shift **** (facing the radio). Pull out that staple and pull the **** up.

There is a pin you have to tap out.

Its right on the ****. You cant miss it.

its on the fwd side, you'll feel a slit/groove. A scribe or small flathead will pull it out. to put it back in needle nose pliers work good sine you have to compress it a little. good luck getting the console out over the shifter and e brake! You'll have to recline your seats and alternate between sliding them forward or backwards. Camaro's are a little easier than birds
