i wish i had cleaned 10,000 cars in my life ... anyways. like i said, the wire brush scrubbing really hard is the best method .... guys quit arguing, it's pointless. neither of you care who has cleaned more cars in there life... paint thinner to the smart and experienced, meguires to the man doing it the slow right way, simple as that..

Go to an automotive paint store or I picked mine up at NAPA that carries paint, wax and grease remover. It's MUCH less harsh than straight thinner and won't damage paint. It'll strip the wax off but most of the other stuff is going to take the wax off as well if it's strong enough to take tar off.

Save your money and use mayonaise. Just smear on some over the tar spot, leave on for a couple minutes and wipe off. Of course you will have to wash that spot with soapy water but it will work.
