Default How do I mount retro emblems?

K, so I bought some '69 Z/28 emblems off ebay. They're of good quality but i uhh wasn't expecting them to be soo heavy. They are made of some kind of metal and have 3 little nubs with bolts on the back and they're curved like contoured as if to go on a curved surface.

How do I mount these suckers? Before I got them I was planning on 3M double sided sticking them to the side of the car after dremel cutting off the nubs.. but I dont think thatll cut it now and do I need to worry about them being curved?

Do I have to drill my body panels on my '98 Z to mount them???

Subscribing. I've been wondering about doing this myself.

I have 64 SS emblems and I used 3M emblem adhesive which has been strong for 4 years. but you can use the 3M tape and it will be strong enough to hold as well. just alot of tape trimming.

mine have been on for about 3 months now, been power washed several times and its been as hot as 97 here. Just cut off the mounting tabs, then place a wooden block over the emblem in the driveway, whack it a few times with a rubber mallet to get them flat, and trim the 3M tape to fit. I did both fender emblems and rear bumber emblem in about an hour.

No, don't drill your panels. Cut the posts off and use 3M emblem tape. That stuff is strong, trust me. Here's a pic of my emblems:

i love how that looks. I was thinking of filling in the back panel and painting it black (Berger style) then using a retro emblem back there. Love the fender look too.

The '69 emblems need to be "modified" slightly to follow the contour of the fender. I have the 70-74 emblems. The red 3m emblem tape will hold them with no problem. I worried when I first put them on. They have been on for 3-4 years with no problems.

toofazt: the script Camaro emblem looks great. I have been thinking about those. I think I'm sold.

I used some 3M tape from Home Depot that's wider and is made for external house use. This stuff is STRONG! I hope I never have to remove my emblems!
