In my quest to bring my car back to it's original undriven look of cleanliness, I had a brilliant idea. To start off, I've always wished that there was something that I could do to make my rear fender wells look new again. I get so sick and tired of that nasty dull grey look that inevitably surfaces. Along comes Black Magic Engine Cleaner. This product not only cleans engine bays with great results, it also cleans fenderwells, and leaves a nice shiney black look with no residue. Simply follow the instructions on the can as if you were spraying down your engine bay. It is best to do this right after driving the car since the brakes heat up the fenderwell. I took a few pictures of the results. Unfortunately, I didn't take before pictures. I hope you can see the results in the pictures well enough. I didn't use a flash either, that is natural reflection on a cloud covered afternoon in Southern California. Just so I don't get the Lower that 4X4 comments, I jacked the car up a bit to take the photos.

Yea, I've been out to sea some and working my tail off when I'm in port San Diego. My son came out to visit me for the past 2 weeks. I'm wore smooth out. We'll have to get together some time and cook some steaks.

if you want to get a permanet good look for your fender walls, take off your tires mask up the quarters and rear axle and brakes and then undercoat them. it will also provide a good sorce of rust protection. im finally going to repaint mine so im going to undercoat mine aswell.

How do you like your Sumitomo tires? I think they are great. Much better than those hard F1's. Got rid of the rear end noise that I thought was gears.

I like the tires for the price. As far as traction, I'm not too disappointed since I don't do a lot of track racing. If I was concerned about traction though, these definitely wouldn't be the tires I would run. Can't beat the price though.

That came out pretty good, though not exactly a new idea. I found out about this little trick a while back from detailing forums. I usually spray something cheap like armor all. Although the engine cleaner would save a step by not having to clean them first. I'm trying this next now that I'm out of armor all.

Might have to give this a try. I usually use a cheap tire shine which works really well but it fades after a few days. How is this stuff holding up so far?

It holds up really well. For the price of one can, you can clean the fender wells about 4 to 6 times. It's well worth it and easy to do. I suggest scrubbing the fenderwell with soap and water the first time you do it. After that, it's a simple spray and rinse process.
