Default FRONT GRILL REMOVED????

Hi everyone. Ok...how do I [neatly] remove stock front grill
on my 2001 SS??? While I am saving money to buy an after market kit...I like the raw front end look without the plastic black grill. Appreciate the help.

Grab it and pull like a *****. There is a way to remove it other than pulling it off. It's a bit of a PITA.

Don't pull it off until you can afford a new grill on there. It looks like **** without one...the screw holes are all exposed and everything. Very ghetto

Ugh, I hate that stupid grill. I took it off on my SS and I took it off on my Z. Yeah, the holes are exposed, but anything looks better than that unpainted tacky black piece.

Thanks you all....well, I'm not sure what to do....
anymore suggestions? I was hoping to remove the grill
without tearing it apart.

I painted my grill gloss black and it looked pretty good on mine. Had a body shop do it for a few bucks...they just had to wait until another black car came in to paint. It was a cheap option and it looked better than having holes in the front bumper, thats for sure.

I pulled the bumper all the way off and took it off, at the same time i took off the styrofoam insert. When you take the bumper off you can safely remove the piece. don't be scared witht eh right tools and a power screwdriver that can do sockets you can do it in about 2.5hours max. We took 3 but we sat and stared at the car for a while.

Take the 4 black plastic push pin "things" from the top of the nose under the hood. You can then peel back the nose far enough to get your arm inside. The grill insert is held on with 8 plastic clips that go over studs. They "should" come off by hand.

It takes 10 minutes, not too tough if you don't want to just rip it off like the professionals.

Well, That's a lot of help you all...Thanks.
I think i will try and find the "Thing-ees" under the hood.
If I could take if off in a neat fashion, that make me very
happy. In the short term I really don't mind the holes.
I have seen a few pictures and in one magazine it was a
featured car...appreciate the help.

If you take the front fascia off, you can do it very clean. Otherwise grab that sucker and pull (warning: MAY do some minor cosmetic damage, or in extreme cases worse). I tried to be "clean" and get the bottom pins w/a saw blade and ended up doing touch-up paint.
I don't blame you for wanting a different look. I've been happy with my billet grill. Understated, but different than stock.
