3 choices of almost the same thing, except the 1st are LED tubes, and all totally different ranges of prices. Which would be my best bet to go with?

LEDs are the one I would go with. I wouldn't get blue (red IMO) but those look to be very low profile. I had Cold cathodes in my car at one time. They burnt out pretty quick and have since tossed them.

I'd go with the first choice. But not blue, everyone has blue.

I've had the kit from the first ebay link sitting for months because I don't know how to hook it up. I just want them to go on when the doors open.

I did this with my LED footwell bars. The interior lights run on a "reducing ground circuit", which means you need to wire the + end of the light tubes to any +12v source in the car (I used the cig lighter wire), then wire the - end of the lights to the "reducing ground" for the interior lights wire coming from the body control module (BCM) located sort of behind the glove box on the pass side. I don't remember the exact wire, but I think it was a white one. I might have a pic that I can post later, I'll have to dig it up. Also keep in mind that I have an '02 camaro, so the - wire to splice into might be different for birds and other years.

This works perfectly, the lights can be turned on and off with the headlight control dimmer switch, otherwise they will turn on when the doors open, and dim out as the interior lights dim out.

**Edit: Couldn't find my picture but I did find the link that I followed http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/alarm96up2.htm read the part about the "Negative door triger" the white wire shown from the BCM is what you wire your light tube negative to.
