i think any claybar will do just fine. like an actual clay BAR. not the liquid **** sold by turtle wax.
however, if you want the best of the best look into zaino detail products. Thats what I always used on that car. The z-18 claybar works great and you can't beat the wax kit. Kinda complicated and expensive but they have great instructions to help you out.
zaino store
Do a search on zaino and check out the pics. Amazing stuff.

i think it looks great. very smooth look. DUDE i didn't even notice those pieces missing on the passenger side the whole time I owned it! LOL
also I would suggest meguiars over any of the other waxes that you can p/u at a store. The "cleaner" wax is like $5-7 and it works great. "gold class" wax is like 10 bucks.<<<---my favorite meguiars wax. Their "nxt generation" wax is supposed to be the best they sell but its around $15-20. I couldn't tell a difference between it and the gold class.

Good write-up. I took a different approach:
I sprayed some WD40 between the door and the molding.
Let it sit for 15 minutes.
Then, used a plastic putty knife (almost flush against the door to avoid scratching) to scrape the molding and most of the adhesive off.
Finally, I used Goo Gone to remove the remaining adhesive.
It took me less than an hour (2nd side was done in half the time of the 1st side.) I'd definitely recommend this mod. It's easy (even a noob like me can do it) and makes the car look cleaner.
