Default Getting away from power antenna

Is there a non-powered replacement for the power antenna? I wnat to get away from the pwered antenna and if there is a short antenna that can replace it (maybe 2-4 inches high) I would much rather get that than buy another powered antenna and have the gears in it strip and give me that grind again. Just wondering if someone knows where a good site is to get one. Thanks...

Junkyard can prob get you the base for the antenna to mount on. All camaro's have them. I went the other direction. I know their is a bit viper antenna that is the length you are looking for. search for bit viper. I see if I can get the part number off it for you it's sittin in my garage.

Is there some way to hide the antenna?

My '71 Olds had the antenna in the windshield and that was awesome. No ugly asymmetric bump. Power is better than nothing, since it is less noticable most of the time, but even that is still too asymmetrical.

you can just shave the antenna off. There was a thread somewhere about it. I think it was in paint and body. I like the looks of the power antenna 10x better than a stock antenna just hanging out there. Even the stubby antennas look out of place.
