cleaning engine bay/water hose

is it safe to spray down the engine bay with water.? ofcourse i wouldnt start it till the next day and this 100+ heat would dry it out quickly.

but i dont want water getting in somewhere and causing issues.

im not gonna flood the bay just turning the nozzle on the flat spray to blast off some of the dust attaching to grease and oil ect.

dont spray the intake manifold. water will get under it and pool up in the knock sensor holes and rust them out.

you can start it after and let the heat of the engine evaporate the water.

i just didnt want water to you know get somewhere and short something out eletrically mostly. i tried not to spray any in the area your tlaking about but some water still got in their so i tried making sure no water is standing.

cover the pcm and electrical connections first.

I spray the **** outa my engine bay all the time... EVERYWHERE! Prior to that I soak it wit degreaser and let it sit for about 15 minutes...

Never had any issues...

Yeah, just don't use high pressure water hoses. Plain water hose won't clean your engine, use some engine degreaser to clean it w/ water.

Yeah and i heard its good to let it run for 10min to get rid of the water. might even be good to drive down the interstate

if you turn your motor on and let it warm up first then spray it you shouldnt have any problems, first off the electrical connections have water tight seals on them. just dont drentch everything, lightly spray it down and let the engine burn it off. we do it at work all the time and have no problems with anything, you would have a better chance of suckin water up your air lid during a rainstorm then just lightly spraying the engine bay down and water getting in.
