You wont get the texture, it will still show. I'd just sand the whole lid down and get it painted if you're going to do that.

I found the height adjsters on the front and sides,,and they were screwed all the way in, allowing my hood to slightly rub. Sux these damn plastic lids cost what they do for what they are.

I guess I got lucky with my lid and how my hood sits, cause not only is there absolutely no rub issue but there was even enough room that I could put a badge on my airlid.

yeah, i am having the same problem with my lid and hood. I might just sand down the whole lid and paint it because I dont like the SLP letter either. I also have some cool camaro lettering I would like to put in place instead. I will check out the hood adjuster tho because I didnt even think about that before.

there was a post about this a week or so on here...i'm not sure exactly who it was...but one fellow posted up how he took a heat gun and slightly heated the lid so that it would clear in the area where it rubs and he said you can't even tell where he heated the lid...hope that helps

Almost everyone that I've seen with an slp lid has some kind of marks from rubbing on the hood, I have a carbon fiber lid and it also had some little marks, I adjusted those plastic screws and it fixed the problem when I bought my LS1 trans am. I polished the lid and the marks are not noticeable anymore.

hmm, might have to try that..I have two spots tho so its just not one little area. I think I am going to get off the rub marks as best as I can and then file down on the bottom of the hood a bit and glue some silver felt or something soft that matches so it wont rub a spot anymore. I dont really mind the spots that much, I just hate the fact that metal hood is pressing down on the plastic lid.

If you do decide to sand it down and paint it, be warned. I did this and and painted it blue, but it still had a slight rub and with a white hood, some blue rubbed off on the underside and it was noticeable. I just decided to get another lid and live with it. Good luck though on whatever route you take though.

Use some of that plastic polish, it gets rid of the small marks.

i had a scuff mark so i lightlly sanded it with 320 and barely dusted it with ultra flat black and you couldnt even tell. i adjusted the bumpers for hood and now it barley/kinda rubs. i think the slp lids just suck and dont fit right

i do not use that tray, i just sit my filter straight in, fits fine, never moves around, etc. made my lid fitment issues go away,,(one side would fit nice, the other looked like it would'nt go sown all the way) and i think my rubbing lid stopped when i did that,,not sure if it was that or moving the 4 **** up instead of having them all the way down.

If you cut out a little square section below the lid where the maf hooks on the rad support that should keep it from rubbing.

I cant even get my clips to stay locked, let alone stop the rub? Anyone know how to keep the clips from undoing?
