trans am guage question

is it possible to put leds behind the stock guages or does that red film prevent it from looking right

Honestly I would leave it alone, there seems to be a hit and miss with hotspots. But for future references, put the same color led as the lense. Example, orange lens=orange led, red lens=red led, ect.

You can put whatever color you want back there and it will look fine, at least on a TA. If you get your Led's from the place I got mine, you won't experience any 'hotspots'.
