they dont pay blue book. They pay you what a similar car in your area would sell for... which is less than blue book

jpticar, I know exactly what you are going thru! I work for the Port of Houston and the EXACT same thing happened to me over three years ago in my truck on the way to my interview !!! Hopefully you got all the drivers insurance info. In my situation, the drivers insurance took care of ALL of it. The front bumper was repainted and the grill/hood were replaced. I took it to a body shop of my choice and had them do all the work to my satisfaction (read: looked brand new). I even replaced the stock hood for a fiberglass harwood cowl hood which was actually cheaper than stock hood replacement...didn't have to pay anything out of my own pocket. I don't have a before shot on this computer, but here is the after...

ah that sucks!=, especially since you have hte same color bird as i do. i know with statefarm if you want to get an aftermarket hood you will have to buy it upfront and they will reimburse you for it.

Oh you both have the same insurance company... That sucks. When dealing with a different company your insurance will go after the other one to make sure things are taken care of usually. But if it is just them they want to get by with as little as they can. Still I hope it works out OK.

Good lord that's horrible and the same thing that happened to me just 3 months after I bought my car! Exact thing...stupid truck backed right over me. He had no insurance and ended up finally after 2 months paying for all the repairs to a tune of $1700+. That was way back in 2002 so I imagine it's going to cost more then that for your repairs. Good luck with it all.

a little update so far. Insurance said they werent sure if the hood would need to be replace or not, so they didnt give ne money for that yet. For everything else they estimated 1200. I went to my body shop and the my guy said he could fix the hood My body shop guy is ecuadorian and so is my gf. Heres my chance to butter him up So I start talkin to him about what part hes from and where my gf is from. Then I start talkin bout the hood again and he asks me if i really want this hood or not haha. He told me to call insurance and tell them that the body shop said that they would have to use body filler and it wont be the same or as strong as it was. Hopefully that means new hood for me Also, from the the previous ******* who dented above my back right wheel they gave me $800 and the body shop told me he would fill that, repaint it, and repaint my back bumper and paint on the mini ceta for me all for $350 combined. All in all I should be able to come away with half of my car repainted plus a raptor hood for free, if not with some insurance money left over lol.
