I would suggest using what you are most comfortable with. Either technique (brush on or paint) will get the job done. It also depends on what color you want to go with, as you are limited by the color selection in the brush on kit.

I personally used that duplicolor caliber paint kit and it worked great! Doing it with a brush gives it a much more professional look in my opinion no overspraying or nothin like with spray cans. The little can of actual paint it comes with has plenty to spare for you to give 2 or 3 coats of paint for a much nicer finish. I even had enough left to do my tahoes calipers.
