Battery Leak

Battery Leak Have an AC Delco, probably the orig. in the car, went to open the hood, and noticed white residue on the garage floor and some in engine bay. I took it out and left it out, and hosed down the engine bay and used an air compressor to blow it out and dry it...any precautions? I noticed some black paint on the metal below the engine flaked off and rusted a little bit..? Should I do anytihng else?
Mine did the same a few years ago. I sanded the rust/corrosion off, cleaned the area up and painted it with colormatch spray paint. Bought an Optima, problem solved.

Noticed the same thing with mine a few months back. White residue on the floor but no apparent leakage. Been in school since that and when I came home last month, I went to fire the car up to take a drive and it wouldn't start. Looked under the hood and was sick to my stomach....positive battery cable is covered with corrosion and rust and worst of all the acid has leaked out and eat down the paint and rusted the inner fender right below it.

Same exact thing here too guys white **** burned into my garage concret floor I pulled the battery and the whole pos terminal fell off of the battery YES were the cable bolts into the battery !That whole thing there fell off my battery with the cable !My GM parts guy laughed his *** off He said hes never seen that one yet !!
VERY common on Delco batteries. You really need to look hard at the cables, if it was that bad, it's eating your cables too, in all likelihood. I'd replace them, personally. I also prefer undercoating after neutralizing, cleaning, and sanding.
