Microfiber vs. Terrycloth
this has probably been done, but i wanted to know who uses a microfiber or terrycloth towel when removing wax/polish. i was once a believe of micro......but at the Etown swapmeet yesterday, a dealer from Meguiars told me they are now pushing terrycloth as apposed to microfiber for detailing/removing wax. you have to believe someone, and it might as well be a rep from Meguiars itself.....thoughts, opinions? post up your choices and why you like them. me, im going to terrycloth for the TA, and keep the micros for my DD truck.

there is very little difference between the two, as loing as you are talking about high quality Terry.
I have not had anyone at Meg's I talk to mention a shift in their thought process.. They have recommended either MF or Terry equally for several years. High quality is the key here.
I prefer high quality MF, because they are more durable and easier to take care of in the long run, and there is very little price difference.
Long term durability is important to me, as I probably have 200 or so towels in my rotation.
I also think you get a little nicer shine when using MF and a QD product.

well i have have only used Terry towels but i never could get my wax to come off good without swirls. Then i kept getting scratches from somewhere. Then i switched to a MF and i got the best results with ever with it. But i was also using worn out Terry towels...but i love how the MF make the wax so smooth and even, without removing too much of it.

Microfiber towels are way better then a terry towel. Meguiars make a very good ultra plush terry towel that is fantastic. I only use a regular terry towel in the door jams, trunk, under the hood and other areas that wont scratch. You will always get a better shine with a microfiber towel.

However, both are prone to wear. You lose terry cloths to lint, where-as MFs begin to stiffen. Proper use and careful washing procedures will prolong the durability of both materials.
I recommend that if you buy terry cloths, avoid buying them in bulk packages. Companies who sell TCs in bulk tend to include varying qualities within the same bag. In the event that you do buy such a bag, feel-test every one of them to determine which are too coarse and which are acceptable. Believe me, the differences in the cloths are very evident with just the swipe of the finger. If you plan to use the TCs frequently on paint, further test the acceptable TCs against the CD.

yeah, jman0322 is right about the baby cloths. They are 100% cotton and don't leave any marks. I actually use them to wash my car and the microfiber towels to take off polish and wax. I have used the cotton diapers to do this also and they work great.
