Default Getting ready to fully polish my FM5s. Is this a good routine?

Ok...I have them all stripped and am ready to sand polish them completely. The faces and lips have all ready been half a$$ed polished. The only spots that have the technopolished finish are the sides of the spokes. Here are the steps I was thinking of doing after reading some posts on here.

1. Sand the sides of the sppkes with 400 to get rid of the technofinish.
2. Sand the entire wheel with 600 grit paper to get the surface uniform and to remove any nicks.
3. Next sand the entire wheel with 1000 grit to remove the scratches left by the 600.
4. Sand the entire wheel with 2000 to get rid of even more scratches.
5. Next I found a roughe at Lowes suggested by a member. The first is a cleaner to remove any imperfections and all. Use a 4" buffing wheel on my elec drill.
6. Same as above but with a black roughe to start the buffing process.
7. Final roughe with a brown high polish roughe. Again using a different buffing wheel for each roughe.
8. Last hand apply Mothers billet to finish it all off.

DO those steps sound correct? I want to be certain before I start SANDING my beloved Fikses

Thanks for any help.

you'll want to throw a layer of 800 between the 600 and 1000 or you'll be sanding for a while.

That's what I was thinking....

Also you would be suprised what Mothers Billet will do if you were to just use it after using the 2000 grit. I did it and it took all of the 2000 grit marks out when I polished by hand. Just give it a try, trust me
