That will look great after you smooth the material out! Did you cut a little too far in on the corner of the right vent?

Ok here is the final shot. Overall I'm pretty satisfied. The leather matches perfectly with the surrounding dash. I messed up 2 or 3 of the corners, pretty badly, but at this point, I'm just going to leave it. I can fix it some other time. Thanks for checking out this project!

JoAnn Fabrics, in Crest Hill, by Joliet, is where we picked it up. The spray glue is good ol' Elmer's.

The hardest part was the bondo. It wasn't hard, just time consuming. I just hooked my ipod up to it. The screen displays an ipod control wheel and lets you use your ipod through the screen. It's sweet. It charges the thing too, so I can just leave it in my car. No more cd's for me.

The D3's a great affordable unit, God knows if I had a Mustang I'd have one in there already, cause these GM din-and-a-half dashes are pains in the ***. When the time comes I might make it happen, but yours is definitely looking great. Enjoy it, man

Great job! How was the depth of the H/U in the dash? did you have to do anything else to make it fit in there? Did you use the mounting hardware that came with it?

Yeah it goes pretty far back but not too badly. The unit does hit the bottom of the air vents, so I had to bend the air vent a little in the back. Nothing that affects the Air flow or the unit. The unit did not come with an installation kit or any sort of mounting hardware, so I had to get to Ace Hardware and make my own ****!

Well, the foglight button is behind the bezel, it's just plugged in and chilin' there. I never turn them on or off, so I didn't feel the need, currently, to relocate them. The ASR button doesn't even work. The car didn't come with any button there, so I just put it there so it wouldn't look so plain.

Poor Brian, I just had my LED's swapped over and now you don't even see them. I'm such a dick!

Sell your flip out and put the money towards this baby. 600$ off of ebay!

Due to the fact that the vent in the back goes down at such a stark angle it makes the entire unit sit very unevenly. To balance it out I took a fat piece of cardboard and jammed it in between the unit and the vent. It leveled it out very nicely, and due to the amount of pressure from the top and bottom held it in place. I took some piece of metal with holes drilled into them, found at ace, and screwed one part into the unit, there is a special spot for screws, and the other end into the existing holes for my previous unit.

As far as depth goes, it doesn't go all the way to the back, just up to where the damn vent starts to curve down.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow afternoon when I get home from work. I'm feelin lazy right now
