Default At Home Polishing!

Don't have money to buy expensive polishing tools and componds? Don't have time to spend hours polishing? Don't mind if some parts look like a half-*** polishing job? Well I got the solution for you! :p

----WHAT YOU NEED----
- Dremel Rotary Tool
- Dremel Buffing Bit
- Chrome/Aluminum Cleaner and Polish (availible at any auto store)
- 200 Grit Sandpaper, or close
- 400 Grit Sandpaper, or higher
- Beer

1) Use the 200 grit sandpaper and go over the part very well making sure it is smooth and free of imperfections

2) Use the 400 grit sandpaper to go over the part again to really smooth it out. Do this step very well to get rid off any scratches the 200 grit may have left behind.

3) Clean off with any soap, Windex, Ahcohol, anything

4) Cover surface with some of the Cleaner/Polish

5) Use the Dremel Tool on about 3/4 speed and LIGHTLY go over the surface. Go back and forth until the surface is shiny, then move on. Do this lightly becuase if you press to hard with the Dremel Tool, th cheapo buffing bit will come off and you will not be able to use it again.

6) Use soap again to clean off all excess Cleaner/Polish.

This method will yeild a less than show quality shine, but is perfect for porting and polishing MAF housings and throttle bodies. Beer will make it look shinier than it really is.

I used this on my MAF Housing and it is quite shiny and VERY smooth, much smoother than before. I can see my reflection, but it's not that great. I didn't take my time and there are still some scratches from the sandpaper that show through.

Good Luck! And don't polish under the influence!

I used 2000 and 2500 and went over it with mothers aluminum polish to do my maf, throttle body and a/c parts. When you stand at the side of the car you cant see any flaws, I also used some Meguiars quick wax to sort of seal the parts.Spray the wax into a rag or you will end up with wax all over the place thats hard as hell to get off of plastic. Anything under 1500 is going to gouge the parts your trying to polish unless your trying to grind off the casting. The dremel is worthless trying to polish anything.

Brake parts cleaner works well to clean between steps, because it doesn't leave a residue.
