Default custom console

ive been working on a new console for the 4th gen firebirds and it includes getting rid of the cup holder (both the one that swivels and the one in the middle), the lighter, the auxilary outlet and the ash tray and also making the cubby hole a permantent part of the upper console. i have also gotten rid of the seem on the lower console on the passenger side under the swivel cup holder. i will get pictures on here soon but i want to try and get an idea if anyone would be interested in this proposition. i can also create another section to the console to extend it to the back seats.

if i do start mass producing them for people they would be custom as in you decide what i get rid of and what stays. the prototype is almost done it just needs paint and then ill have pics up hopefully in the next week or two. i may even be able to do 3rd gen too.

the console will be setup with a core charge where i will make your console and then send it to you and then you will send back your old console and i will return your core charge. just liek any other core charge.

please if anyone would be interested just let me know.

This will probably get you almost nowhere unless pics are provided.

I can honestly tell you though that I will not be interested

the "useless" cupholder as many people call it, is the home for my cell phone while driving. It's hard to improve or make something better when space is so limited in those cars! I'd love to see pics though

getting rid of these things is if you want something a little different than other as far as interior goes and if you want something cleaner and you jsut dont really use these things that often.

Def not a fan of your core charge idea. Big hassel for me due to long workin hours. Only interest I would have in this is if you included some kind of compartments, switch panels, or maybe placements for nitrous tanks.

about the cup holder, he did say that you can select what you get rid of, this is a nice idea for the people who dont have the skills / time to work on something like this. personally not interested (already designing my own), just a thought, maybe you could offer leather, suede or vinyl wrapping of the custom consoles (if you have those skills). also have an option where the person sends you there console instead of doing it the other way (might be easier for some people) any how, good idea, looking forward to seeing how your project turns out

yes i could also do it that way as well. if you just sent me the console you would not have to pay the core, you would just be without a console for the time being. and no you don't have to get rid of the cup holder you dont have to get rid of anything you don't want.

Seems like eliminating the cup holders, outlets, and ashtry and LEAVING the cubby would actually be getting rid of things that are somewhat useful, and leaving the one thing that I havent found a use for yet. haha.

Would be a cool idea though. Maybe instead of "deleting" all those things, make up a build in switch plate. Or, leaving the ashtry lid and building a switch panel into the console under the lid.

Like everyone else said though, you're gonna need some pics to illustrate your ideas and skills... And the core idea is sketchy...but good luck! Im interested in seeing some pics when you get some.

J.
