so how do you guys clean your engine bays this well? I just washed mine the other day...

first off, it didn't look anywhere near this clean...

2nd, I got something wet, that apparently wasn't supposed to get wet, and I had electrical surging issues for a couple days...

but wtf am I supposed to do? I can't clean my engine?

Wow! Some day I'll get to REALLY cleaning up my engine bay. Like the wire mod for starters. But for now...I'm cool

And just one more...I always get a "Whoa!" when people see this...

Some tips for cleaning the engine bay:
I personally use aluminum foil to cover most things that have wires attached to them. The foil folds nicely around the modules and such. Then I use an engine detailer (I personally like Black Magic's Engine Detailer/Cleaner). Let it sit on the engine for about 15 minutes and then spray it off. Once you think you have all the cleaner off, then remove all the foil (if you choose to use it, I do so I don't have any potential electrical problems...so far so good). Last step, start the car for a couple minutes. You'd be amazed how well it cleans everything.

Polishing/detailing further:
I actually use mother's metal polish and a couple of rags to polish the AC, Break lines, and any aluminum lines run throughout the engine. You can also do the MAF and TB if you like. I didn't have time before I took my pic. Just put some polish on the rag, rub the area you want polished until the polish turns black. Wipe it off with a clean rag and repeat until you get the results you want. It's a bit of work, but if you get it all done once...just upkeep it a little and it won't be that much work for the future. Lastly, if you want, you can use a dremel tool with polishing bits for small areas, but I wouldn't even consider it for large areas. Doing it by hand isn't nearly as much work as the dremel will be in the end.

As for the electrical problems, don't put any extended direct pressure from the hose to the electrical parts. I had a problem in the past in which all my gauges died, but the car ran fine...turned out that I had water in my computer. ?? It wasn't from washing the car, we actually had tons of rain. Now I have a cover over the PCM and it's been good since.

It'll definitely help out with the car shows. It takes some time, but it pays off in the end. I love looking and thinking..."what next?". Your car was still looking good though. I voted for ya with the best Camaro. Congrats.

Looks like I'll have to up my ante to try and beat out Mike...for that matter, even make the top 5.
