Anyone tried Rain-X on polished aluminum? I can't see spending $125 for the Zoop Seal when Rain-X is so cheap and seems to do the same thing. Maybe not, though.

I have a complete Zoop Seal Kit that I never used. It claims to seal aluminum - but it also states that it eventually wears off and you need to re-apply. I don't know about you, but if I'm going to go to the trouble of coating parts - I only want to do it once.
As far as RainX goes - I don't know how that would protect aluminum - it is essentially a silicone coating for windows that allows water to bead off surface. Not gonna seal aluminum so that no oxidation occurs. And that product needs to be applied frequently also.
In the end, whether you like the options or not, the only way to properly finish aluminum so that it will not oxidize, and need no further maintenance, is to either:
1. Chrome
2. Anodize
3. Powdercoat
a half-assed process used to save $$ is gonna yield half-assed results...
