the battery light, not the amp gauge, but the battery light is part of the preexcitation circuit, when the light is lit the armature is not creating a magnetic field around the field coils. its like this on all cars with an alternator. its not a problem, its not something that was fixed on 99+ cars.
That makes sense...

Well, a 1994 you can literally roll the odometer back... I watched a redneck do it in his tralier (no joke). He also sold cable chips for free illegal cable (again, no joke)

People used to roll back all the time. What's the big deal? How do any of you know your car isn't subject to undocumented OD fraud?

Even on a modern car you can just change the cluster and lie about how many miles are on it. You can do tag renewals online so how can they verify it or who cares about some used 5+ year old POS car?

That is why people get new cars in the first place. People used to abuse them and get new ones every ~3 years. hehe

I learned that the hard way on my '98 as well. Pulled the dash for the 10pt cage install and drove it to the chassis shop.......well I almost made it anyway.

Just for the record, I have done several LT1 swaps before, and even to trigger the LT1 Alt to charge correctly you must use the same resistance resistor for it work correctly. The issue without running the cluster is the resistor is mode onto the dash cluster. Hope that helps.

Can you do this on 99+ cars? Pulling a fuse I mean? Not that I'm going to do it, just wondering if someone did this to my buddies car. Its a 99, has low miles but the engine is all messed up.

You can bypass this through the exciter wire. Also you can remove a fuse and make it so the miles' do NOT add up.

Quote by 6LITEREATER "...or if it has to do with the way the car is wired (like how if are third brake light goes out the ABS doesn't work)"

So if I shave the 3rd brake light off my '00 T/A spoiler, how do I keep my ABS going?

The radio fuse, and as far as LS1 4th Gen's go it's only suppose to work on the 98(or so I've been told) so that's not your buddies case.

There are much easier ways to keep your car from registering miles on the odometer...
