I'm working on this one and will swap it out when I get it right.

I've just been using a wire wheel and then polishing wheels from the 6" bench to the 1/2" Dremel. The Dremel stuff is frustrating though as they tend to fall apart rather quickly.
Oh, I used a sanding disk and an abrasive wheel to remove the casting marks first. The material is rather porous so polishing can only go so far.

Looks great! Still got some lip there though. I sanded mine down so that it almost has razor sharp edges.

,,that looks amazing,,i just started to experiment with the pot metal outside myself,,it takes time to get into all those lil nookes and such,,i have worked on mine a lil here and a lil there and its not nearly what you've got, although i did figure out how to get rid of those casting marks,,i just used a file,,,that alone makes them look sooooo much better. Hopefully, B4 the TA nationals this year,,I'll nice and shiney like that,,,great job!! Here is someone else's i have a pic of,,i don't have my own photographed yet.

Internal or external? I'm not sure how much I want to do to the internals as I don't want to adversely effect flow...although from what I've read as long as the the throttle blade seals the fonr side of the venturi doesn't really do much. If you think about it, only at WOT throttle does it even have laminar flow through in it. Part throttle must be quite turbulant.

As for the external lip, doesn't that help keep the MAF hose secured?? That part of the housing is covered up by the hose once installed so I'd rather have that lip there to assure a good secure fit and no chance of unfiltered air sneaking behind the MAF. It would likely never happen though as the MAF is pretty much in compression between the airlid and the throttlebody.

Did you have any luck getting the casting pits out? That's kind of the luck of the draw. I had a CME that was pitted and SLP sent me a new one. The 2nd one was much better and I ended up having it chromed. I'll link a picture to it, but I have to go to my PC.

Here's the old CME

It was on this car

Unfortunately this car was stolen. Fortunately I now have an LE so it's all good.

OK, getting closer. Although it's hard to tell in the picture, it looks much better now in person.
