Got me. I never understood people paying so much money for a stock hood.

Would have around a grand in a hood. New hood $495 + $100 something for shipping + $250 or more for a decent paint job. You get what you pay for when it comes to paint.

....can guess what my hood choice for you would be.

I don't know why but I don't like the 3" SS hood... It just sticks out like a sore thumb and doesn't flow right IMHO...

Bottom line is go with whatever one you personally like. You can't go wrong with either one, but I am with the majority here I wouldn't spend a grand plus on an SS hood that is a little steep in my opinion especially after you figure paint and everything. I myself am a fan of the Sonoco hood. Are they getting to be a common hood on the Z's, very but there is a reason for that and that is because it is an amazing looking hood VFN really knew what they were doing when they made that hood. Like I said get the one you like its your car after all.

i plan on getting the sunoco hood, i dont want to look like another SS. the sunoco might be pretty common on the board, but i doubt there will be another one around me locally. so i dont care how everyone on the board is getting them, i want to be different in my area.

On the SS 3in Sonoco hood I see its open/hollow throught the back. Does that mean the intake is open and exposed underneath that and can be seen from the windshield? (as seen in "one bad z's" car) If so thats what I'll get. That would really the keep engine cool. Let me know please.

Damn, a thousand for a hood??? If anything, you should be spending close to a thousand for the hood + shipping + painting all together. Good choice on the Sunoco hood, ive been thinking of getting it myself. I wasnt into those hood style's very much, but now im starting to like this hood. I may end up getting it myself, just for the fact that it's at a reasonable price and seem's like no one in my area is running with it.
