Default need help! Porter cable and swirls

well this past week i spent a few hours one day and a few the next trying to get the swirls and random scratches out of my paint. I got a 7424 Porter Cable for Christmas so figured i would try it out. I used a moistened orange pad and some meguiars deep scratch remover (tan bottle, i think it was number 1). Then i used another moist orange pad and the next step down of meguiars scratch remover (#2 i think).

Now i think this is where i messed up. I then used meguiars fine swirl remover on another moist orange pad. ( i dont know if i should of used the blue pad or not.) After i was done i put a coat of meguiars wax on the car and it looked GOOD! Of course i was in a garage and not in the sunlight. Well after about 3 days of driving it I got a chance to see it in the bright sunlight. There are VERY FINE swirls all over it. It is even a little "hazy" in places. I dont know if i just need to finish it up again with a blue pad and light swirl remover and then some sort of polish or something? I dont want to screw my paint up! So please help me if you can. Let me know what advice yall have.

sounds like micromarring to me. You might have used too much pressure on it. Stick to Megs 80 and 82. 83 can be used as well but is more suited to the rotary.

You needed to use a less abrasive pad with the final polish. I use the white pad. The orange pad is more aggressive and will leave the paint looking hazy if you don't follow it up with the white or blue.

yah that is what i figured. I dont know what i was thinking when i did this. I guess I was just in a rush or something. I will go back over it with the blue pad and then i guess i could use apply wax or polish with the white pad huh?

Like said above as well, dont put any pressure on the unit, the weight of it itself will do the work for you.

Here are some videos, just go to next after your done with one video.

As Doug said, it would help to know exactly which Meguiars products you're using.

Also, are these Lake Country pads? I just want to make sure, because not all manufacturers use the same colors for the various density pads.

If they are Lake Country pads, here is the general rule of thumb:
Yellow: High cut. Should only be used when compounding. This will leave behind some surface marring that will need to be cleaned up with a less abrasive pad.

Orange: Moderate cut. Used for compounding or more abrasive polishes.

White: Low cut. Used for fine/finishing polishes.

Blue: No cut. Used to apply waxes and sealants.
