T-Top Question
I found a very nice 98 Z-28, but the problem is that it's a hardtop. I know that they are rare, but I like T-Tops. Is it possible to have T-Tops installed? I've called a local Chevy dealership and they said they couldn't do it. I've also called a local autobody specialist and they said they couldn't do it either. Any suggestions?

I don't think it's going to be worth it in the end. You run the risk of structural problem to the unibody if the job is not done right, and also leaks, etc. I would imagine it being an expensive procedure as well. There are a lot of cars out there, I'd just wait a little longer until you find one that's perfect.

I've been looking around and this is the best deal no doubt except for the T-Tops. It sounds like this is not an uncommon project. I just have to find someone local who could do it.

It is very easy, i dont have a lot of body work experience but with a buddy and a 12 pack you can have it done in a day or 2 at the most. Also it would be very hard to damage the structural unibody as all fbodys start as ttops and the side brackets are welded in and the top glued on.

when i first did mine. i was going by a how-to off the internet. and it some of it didnt explain everything. now that i've done it though... i'm gonna do my camaro and it'll be done fast as hell. the part that takes the longest is cutting out the "spot welds" or "weld spots".... little round things. the rest is just simply cutting. top layer of roof is fiberglass so it cuts off like nothing just keep a straight line and u use a dremel with a cut-off wheel. then for the sides you cut off with a saw. i used a battery-operated saw so it kept dying. i'd recommend get all non battery operated tools..dremel and saw. as for the spot welds..i just used the dremel and a flathead screwdriver. theres like 10 of them
