New badge question!!

I have been thinking about ordering some new badges for my car and my dad brought up a good point.. When you take off the old badges, do the new ones cover all that the old ones did up?? Reason for asking, I know that there is 10 year old paint under them that has never even seen light, dirt, etc. If it helps any, I was wanting to get the older badges that were used on the 1st gen camaros..

It should be alright, i took off my side molding on my 98 a couple years ago and the under paint looked great.

I kinda hoped they would be ok, but it really made sense when dad was talking about it..

I put 69 Z28 badges on mine. I removed those plastic POS ones.
