That's what I had done when I repainted my trans-am. You can tell a huge difference between my car and other black cars when you see them out in the sun.

That being said, black is also one of the worst colors to keep clean if it's daily driven. I kick myself when I see a SOM car go by. I was in the same boat getting mine repainted between those three colors. I went black, but I probably would have gone with SOM if I had to do it again.

so whats the difference between black off the shelf and when the companies tint it, is it not as black of a black when the companies tinit it? Also, did pontiac use a metallic flake black, or just a solid plain black.

From the factory, black has a lot of side tones that gives it a different look in the sun. Right off hand, I'm not sure which ones black has in it from the factory, but maybe a little white / brown / magenta / etc.

It's not literally a black "off the shelf." The body shop mixed my color with basically nothing but black in it. I don't think there is any metallic flake in it from the factory. Very, very little if any.

Black hole black is just that/// straight mixing black right off the shelf. No toners added, just reduce it, spray it and clear it.

There's a metallic black on the new G8s that looks great!

You did it to my car:

Now do it to hers !

SOM is a nice FACTORY color but I wouldn't do all that work for copper brown... Maybe if you went with more of a tangerine or candy orange

yes I personally like solid black with no metallic wayyyyy better. Its a blacker black. It really makes a difference. With Ferrari you can get them to do any custom colour you want for more money, but on their choice of 16 official colours thay actually have 2 blacks, one mettalic and one non metallic, so it seems peaple actually pay attention to this more then I thought. I never really thought about it until my dad startin tellin me how much he liked a solid black better then a metallic one. I think a few companies actually have the choice of metallic black or non metallic black as "official" colours, its pretty cool how the exact same colour can change with just metallic flakes thrown in. Id love to see a dark charcoal type grey with purple flakes. Ferrari has this colour I think its called grigio silverstone (silverstone grey) and i swear from certain angles under certain lighting it has a tint of purple to it, i have no idea how they do it or if its all in my head but somethin about the colour reminds me of purple. Sometimes you dont even see any purple, but you feel like you can see purple (even though you actually dont), I sound crazy and im rambling so im just gonna shut up now lol.

forgot to add, Hotwhip BEAUUUUUUUTIFUL T/A, those are almost the exact wheels im looking for (there very close to the HRE ones, only the hre spokes get thinner as they go out where those ones seem to stay the same)
