Default 3rd gen steering on 4th gen?

Are the shafts/splines compatible?

Reason I ask is because I grew up in an 85, was my first car, and then sold it a few years back. I loathe the big bulky center section of the 4th gens (yes.. and 90-92). I think it would be nice to add one of these rather than an aftermarket.

Any ideas if it'll fit?

Thirdgen owners have swapped entire steering columns from 4thgens into their thirdgens. But you may be able to just swap out the steering wheel instead of the whole steering column.

Kind of what I am wondering. Not looking to swap the column since it's brand new (long story).

I don't use the stereo controls.. so no need to have that wheel. I just think a 3rd gen wheel would look sweet

I see your point and desire to put a 3rd gen steering..... but a 4th gen looks and feels better....

I humbly disagree.... It's big and bulky. Never liked airbag wheels...

You do know what an airbag does incase of a crash, right?

Sorry, but yes.... I could keep the ABS and SRS and all that jazz... But this isn't a Volvo. I am NOT driving this car for safety sake. I just hope if I hit the wall hard enough that it would deploy the bags, I go quickly..

Now shut your hole and get back on topic. I wasn't asking for your opinion on safety. Sell your car and buy a Prius....

I just wanted to know if the splines matched up.... I don't know how it will look yet, but trial and error will evidently win this....
