What type of plugs did you use to fill in the holes where the wires used to be secured?

Thanks!

I used small stainless plugs that are made to seal the ends of allen head bolts.. sorta hard to find (got mine at Hillco)

Black plastic "pine cone" push pins work well also..

Well I will post an update on my car in the next few days. But I will tell you that I used a welder and filler to plug all my holes in the engine bay. All wires are being rerouted, and the engine bay is getting painted semi-flat black.

All wires that go forward will be routed through the fender wells and/or under the frame. The PCM is behind the firewall, and all engine control wiring will exit from the center of the firewall directly to the rear of the engine.

Thus, very little wiring will be visible when I am done.

Thanks Steve. What size "pine cone " push pins would fit in those holes and are they something I can get at the dealer?

Thanks.

cool post. I never wanted to cut my wires so I avoided doing this to the last car. I think I'll do it to the 35th SS though.

Any problems getting a hole saw into that location?
Tony, just drill it from underneath and there aren't any problems

I used my touchup paint to seal the bare metal before I put the grommet in...

I live near the Compaq Center. How long does it take to do this mod? If more than a couple hours then I'd probably want to leave the car in the garage to do it so I don't have to finish as quickly.

What all is involved?

Your not too far away Tony.....

I'll have to refresh my memory, but you need a bi-metal hole saw, and the wires disconnect from the PCM, I think....as well as the vac. hose....

those that have done it, whats involved in removing the wires and vac. hose and re-ataching them?...

I'm doing this mod on Sat. I am going to use a 1" punch and punch 2 holes next to each other, then grind down the 2 points so I have a running track shape. Put some silicon cement in the groove around the grommet to prevent corrosion. I'm going to do the hose on the drivers side also.

Where are you guys running the wires underneath the fender? Does anyone have pics? Do the wires get close to any suspension pieces? Where do the wires come back in at?

Blu Beast, I live in the same area as you. I live closer to Cy-Fair High School. Do you ever bring your car out or what? Never seen it before.

Here's a write-up of the mod but with cutting the wires. But you still get a good look at the pic's and get an idea of how everything is run.I plan on doing this without cutting wires also.
