what's the deal with some of the later (01-02) T/A's red not matching panel to panel? yeah, i know the bumpers don't b/c of the material. i looked at a 01 t/a the other day with under 11000 miles and i took my pro body shop buddy with me. we went to a open parking lot to inspect the car. we stood back maybe 15ft. and found the panels just plain mismatched. the quarters matched the fenders, but the doors (both sides) were darker, the rear bumper looked way more of an orange, along with the ground effects. we determined that all the paint was factory original, no overspray found anywhere, orange peel matched, just the colors way off. i turned down the car b/c it would drive me crazy. i'm getting ready to look at another red t/a this week and it will be at least 12 hr round trip and i wonder if i can expect the same thing on a '00 model. anybody have any explainations? was this a problem only in the last couple of years, or all the way back? i had a red 93 dumdumdumdumdum that looked perfect in its org. red years ago. sorry for long post, thanks for any help.

My '01 SS the hood is a different color than the fenders and bumper cover. It's never been wrecked or painted either so I'm not sure. Does SLP paint the hoods off the car? If so that would explain it.

on my 01 car the front bumper looks different than the rest.
dont forget, the hood is either aluminum or fiberglass (depending on if its WS6 or not), front bumper is plastic, fender is plastic (if i remember corectly) and doors are resin (again, if i remember correctly).
check out the other one and post up your findings.

hey, i found my old thread! UPDATE: i bought the 2000 i was going to look at. at first glance it looked fine. we were out in the sun the whole time we (wife and i) looked at the car. we stopped for fuel, and under the large canopy, i noticed the some of the same problems. after stepping back, you can see the fenders don't match the doors on either side. actually, the bumper, hood, and fenders are all three different reds. rest of body looks correct except maybe the ground fx, they might be a little "orange". i know some of you will scream repaint, but i've been over this with 2 other body guys, we can find no signs of a repaint. i guess i'll just have to keep it in the sun

i have a feeling all of the parts that could bolt on the car are prolly painted off of the car. i don't know this for sure, but just a logical guess. maybe that's why they don't match then. i know red is the hardest to match, and usually one of the easiest to see the difference in with the human eye.
