Default Getting ready to clay bar/detail

Just got back from autozone with a few things. Just wondering if I missed anything. Also I substituted the wax in the Meguires 3 step system with Meguires #26 wax which I heard was good.

Should I use a different polisher?

Is Meguires Paint cleaner like a pre-wax?

Also I thought you did the pre-wax right before the wax, but it's step 1(after wash but before clay?)

Lemme know what you think.

Thanks

Same clay bar and wash that i use. If i were u i would take all the meguires stuff back and get the eagle one nanowax. You wont regret it believe me. I have a few pics in another thread. Wash then dry. Break out the clay bar and when your done with that polish it up. Again i recommend eagle one. One step and no residue left over.

I went with the multi step because I have heard some bad reviews on the the one step things. I will probly wait for some more people to chime in before I make any decisions. I have also heard some good things about Zaino.

good choice on substituting in the meguiars #26....its one badass carnauba wax. I'd recommend a wash with your eagle one you bought, rinse, and then use your clay bar. wash again, dry, step 1 (cleaner) will basically further clean the surface even though the claybar does that, step 2 (polish) will be what takes care of minor surface imperfections, then step 3 (#26) will give you the protection for your good finish. let me know if you have anymore questions! make sure to use microfibers to remove residue!

I don't have very high hopes for the finished product as the paint is not original and there are quite a few imperfections. Just looking to get rid of water spots and gunk and bring on the shine. If I wash it and dry it then it looks just as dirty as before, but it all disappears while its wet.

I do have a question though, how would I get water spots off the t-tops and hatch glass? Soap and water dosent work, I also tried using vinegar which I read on a detailing sight.

I will probaly look at getting it painted next year if the money is there.

Ill do some before and after pics.

try the claybar on the glass as well....water spots are "contaminants" of minerals in hard water....and can usually be removed much like the contaminants on painted surfaces

Ill try that, but I think my glass is beyond that at this point. I came across a thread where a guy used razor blades, steel wool, vinegar, clay bar, and then chrome polish which worked like a charm. I have some aluminum wheel polish but I think ill go get some chrome polish to be safe.

Also any suggestions for underhood cleaning. I have read spray on simple green, then rinse off. Will 409 or all in one cleaner work?
