We have state laws and inspections or I would go 5% used to have a blazer that had 5% all the way around with a six inch strip of 5% at the top and bottom of windshield and a 35% strip in middle I loved that thing. Here we can only do 35% it sucks
I'm tinting my windsheild to 35% and putting a layer of 35% over my 5%. Should make it just dark enough

that's how this car was and I never had a problem with it.
Although seeing out the windows during the day was interesting. At night headlights make it easier to see.

FWIW 50% tint has a reflective quality that makes it easier to detect (to LEO), if you're going to put anything on the windshield do 35% as it doesn't have as much (if any) noticeable reflection.
